PAUHA-trio

About us

We are the PAUHA-trio, a Finnish clarinet-viola-piano trio founded in 2021 by Miska Matero (clarinet), Veikko Marjamäki (viola) and Kalle Peura (piano). Elsa Toivonen has been our pianist since autumn 2023.

Our first tour was in Northern Finland in August 2022. In addition to the old repertoire, we want to perform new music, which is why we have worked with young Finnish composers. In 2022, we had the privilege of premiering a composition by an up-and-coming young composer, Elisar Riddelin. In the summer of 2023, we performed "Of Morgana Le Fey," written for us by Sofia Chambon. In 2024 we have cooperation with composer Tuomas Kettunen.

We actively give concerts in different parts of the country, and in addition to occasional concerts the annual summer tours of North Finland have served as the artistic backbone of our activities. Also in the summer of 2024 we are heading towards Lapland, Kainuu and Northern Ostrobothnia.

Our repertoire naturally includes the basic works of our ensemble, W. A. Mozart's Kegelstatt Trio, Robert Schumann's Märchenerzählungen and 8 pieces by Max Bruch. In addition to these let's also mention the trios of Jean Francaix, Gordon Jacob, and Leo Smit, as well as Brett Dean's Night Window and Libby Larsen's Ferlinghetti.

Something old, something new and something forgotten is our motto.
